ISHF Training

Picture1 Picture2The ISHF recently developed a 1 Day Training Course for Field Inspectors specifically suited to the installation of Screw-Piles and Helical Anchors. The course was developed after numerous requests from industry representatives who identified a need for independent third-party inspection by properly trained Inspectors. The approach is consistent with inspection of other types of foundation construction within the Geotechnical industry, including: inspection of construction/installation of Driven Piles, Drilled Shafts, Micropiles, Grouted Anchors and Tiebacks and even Shallow Foundations.

The first course was taught on April 9, 2013 in Lawrenceville, Ga. In collaboration with Foundation Technologies, Inc. (FTI) who hosted to course. Dr. Alan Lutenegger (ISHF Executive Director) and Mr. Cary Hannon (ISHF Member), V.P. of Engineering for FTI presented the course in a combination of classroom and outdoor field training. There were a total of 14 Registrants for the course. Comments received from Attendees during the course and from a post-course survey established that the course was a resounding success. A second session was held on November 18, 2013 also at FTI.

Any ISHF Member who might wish to host the course should contact Dr. Alan Lutenegger at lutenegg@ecs.umass.edu to discuss scheduling and logistics. A field demonstration is integral to the course and gives Attendees the opportunity to perform a field inspection on a full-scale installation. Attendance is currently limited to 20 participants.
